Rosella's Vineyard

Rosella's Vineyard is owned by Gary Franscioni, "The Other" Gary at Garys' Vineyard. Rosella's, named after Gary's wife, is located in Monterey County, near Soledad, Ca, about a mile north of Garys'. Gary has many different Pinot clones planted at Rosella's - and I got all 667 in 2002. In 2003, I'll probably also pick up some 777 just for fun!

Garys' Vineyard

Garys' Vineyard is a joint effort between Gary Franscioni and Gary Pisoni (of Pisoni Vineyard). Childhood friends, the two Garys decided to work together to create Garys' Vineyard after the success of Pisoni Vineyard. They took their multi-generation history of growing vegetables and translated that into growing kick ass Pinot Noir. The vineyard is located in Monterey County, near Soledad, Ca. The clone planted is the same as that planted at Pisoni Vineyard - The Pisoni Clone.
For more information, check out the Garys' Vineyard website.

Brosseau Vineyard

For those of you who don’t know the name Brosseau, Jan and Jon Brosseau have had their own vineyard next to Chalone for about 20 years - and I started sourcing Pinot from them in 2002. Jon was one of those crazy guys, like Dick Graff at Chalone, who saw the potential of the limestone soil in the hills east of Soledad, and was willing to put up with small problems like no water and no electricity. Recently, they've built a high-end B&B on the property, Inn at the Pinnacles. Their son, Bill, is the new head winemaker at Testarossa. He also produces wine under his own label, Gabilan.

Naylor Dry Hole

Starting in 2003.

Pisoni Vineyard

COMING SOON?

I'm not sure when I'll begin sourcing fruit from Pisoni Vineyard... maybe in 2003, maybe later. Gary has such a big heart, he wants to sell fruit to all his friends. But he has a small vineyard. One of these days, when Gary has some extra fruit - and Jeff agrees to give it up to me instead of adding it to the Pisoni Estate production - I will finally be able to add the Holy Grail of Pinot Vineyards to my list.

Rancho Ontiveros Vineyard

Rancho Ontiveros is a new vineyard in the south east portion of the Santa Maria Valley. It's owned by James Ontiveros, whos family has been in Santa Maria for like... forever - and at one time owned the land that is now Bien Nacido Vineyard. James was a grape buyer for Kendall Jackson and Gallo of Sonoma, and is currently managing grape sales for Bien Nacido Vineyard. His vineyard is within shouting distance of Au Bon Climat's new Le Bon Climat vineyard - and it has proven to be killer! I'm currently getting clones 113, 114, and 115 from James.

Clos Pepe Vineyard

Clos Pepe Vineyard is located in the Santa Rita Hills area of Santa Barbara County, near Lompoc, Ca. The area of the vineyard where my grapes have been coming from is planted with the 667 clone and according to Wes Hagen at Clos Pepe, the site is "steep and chunky and makes Pinot freaks like you and me salivate". The 667 clone is one of the new Dijon clones being planted in California. It produces wine with a deep red/purple color, and its predominant flavors are cassis and cherry. Starting in 2003, I'll be increasing my purchases to include 2 acres of clone 115. This should add a new dimension to my Clos Pepe Pinots.

Cargasacchi Vineyard

COMING IN 2003!

Peter Cargasacchi has graciously agreed to sell me some of his killer Pinot Noir this year - and I'm one happy little winemaker. Peter is a great guy... but beware of his dry sense of humor!!
